A redirect sends an old link to a page or product on your organization's site. Save each rule disabled, then test it before you enable it.

Organization administrators change rules. Operators and viewers inspect rules and test URLs.

Add a rule

  1. Open Redirects under Website in your organization's workspace.
  2. Select Add Redirect.
  3. Enter Old URL or path.
  4. Select Review Source.
  5. Check the normalized path and extracted query parameters.
  6. Select Use for matching for each parameter that identifies the old page or product.
  7. Choose Destination.
  8. Select Save Redirect.

The rule starts disabled. A full URL supplies its path and query parameters. Trackside does not save its hostname. Paths match capitals exactly. One trailing slash does not change the match.

Select Add Condition to enter another name and value. Edit the fields to correct a condition. Leave tracking parameters unchecked.

With no selected conditions, the rule matches only the path. With selected conditions, all selected names and values must match. Extra parameters are allowed. A repeated required name prevents that rule from matching.

A query-aware rule can use a current public page's path. For example, /?page_id=42 can point to About while / still shows Home. Trackside protects account, payment, and other system paths. It explains a conflict beside the form.

Test and enable a rule

  1. Select Preview beside the saved rule.
  2. Check Simulation URL.
  3. Select Preview Rule.
  4. Read the matching steps, consumed parameters, messages, and final URL.
  5. Select Close.
  6. Select Enable beside the rule when the destination is ready.

The staff preview URL uses your Trackside address. On a draft site, only signed-in staff can open it.

Simulation treats this rule as enabled without changing it. In the form, Preview Rule also tests unsaved changes. The destination must be publicly available before you enable the rule. A draft destination stays unavailable to visitors.

For a draft content page, Staff Draft View opens its staff preview. This link does not make the destination public.

The rule removes its required parameters and keeps the rest. For example, a rule that requires id=42 keeps utm_source=email at the destination.

Use Test an Old URL to check the current enabled rules. Enter URL to test, then select Test URL. This test does not change rules or follow a redirect.

If several rules match, Trackside uses the rule with the most required parameters. It rejects equally specific rules that could match the same link.

Change or remove a rule

Saving an enabled rule changes old links immediately. Select Edit to change its source, conditions, or destination. Select Save Redirect to apply the change.

Disable stops a rule immediately but keeps it for later use. Remove deletes it after confirmation. Redirects do not have a separate Publish step.

A destination's address can change without breaking its rule. If the destination becomes unavailable, an enabled rule shows Needs attention. Visitors get a missing-page response until you restore the destination or choose another one.
